Savannah Springs, born in South Carolina, is a multidisciplinary artist based in Chicago. Their work spans across sculpture, painting, and mixed media with a five year practice in independent ceramic.
Savannah's work is a way to express the relationship between past memories and present self, how nature interacts with art, and the concepts of spirituality. Through these memories and ideas, they explore dreamlike qualities and feelings expanding beyond real life, reenchanting the everyday and mundane.
Artist Statement
Savannah’s paintings are light and airy, emulating serene experiences that felt spiritual in nature as their sculpture meshes the concepts of both nature, art, and expression. Birds appear as a metaphor for spiritual guidance, safety, wellbeing, and optimism. The bird becomes a presence within these spaces, carrying a sense of safety and wonder. Through this work, the artist aims to encapsulate the sublime and create an emotional resonance with the viewer.
